A New Outlook [Axis and Ren]

Destiny Island or atleast what was left, the once beautiful island that shinned with radience under the sun and was always preoccupied by the business of friends running and playing. It was the place where anyone could feel free. Sitting on the shoreline, an onyx haired girl sat looking out at the remains of what she used to call home or atleast back in her time it had been. With the glint of her emerald eyes she looked out across the waters where the homes of many used to be. It was shocking and even depressing to see it empty, just gone. This had once been the young keybladers home back when she had been a figure of light. And now she stood on the waste of her old home, the nobody of Twilight, Axis The Eternal Flame of Darkness.

Sighing, she pushed the hair out of the way of her left eye and rose to her feet. Sweeping te sand off that still clung to her she slipped her right hand deep into her pocket. Her mind felt like wandering aimless in thought as the new scene of the future seemed to be getting to her. It had been a choice she had chose when Ren had decided but never in life did Axis once figure the war of her time had caused so much destruction and chaos to the worlds. It was too late now though she was here wether she liked it or not and she was here for good. Strolling along the path that the water lined down the sand Axis looked around starting to picture the memories of past when she had been Saria and even when she had been Axis. Unusual to her race, she could still remember everything, every memory before and after her transformation. That and she could still feel the true feelings without a heart. This was one things seperating from any other nobody in the Organization except for Roxas, Xion and her brother Axel.

As she passed the bridge that lead to the islands famous paopu tree she stopped and looked. It had been the favourite of all spots to just sit and relax as you'd the sun set into the horizon. Smirking a tiny bit she headed up the stairs and towards the bridge, crossing it and setting herself on the trunk of the tree. Even though it's fruit was dead and gone and it seemed somewhat stripped it was nice to know that atleast one thing seemed to survive, barely. Axis looked out again this time at the dull sky as she laid back. Soon closing her eyes and losing herself in a fantasy world of Destiny memories.

Ren was crouching inside the secret place, looking at all the chalk pictures left by the people before. She slowly left the tunnel, wondering why she and Axis had never made any of their own. She walked out into the sunlight, squinting and covering her eyes. She looked out over the area, trying to see if there was anyone else on the island. She spotted a lone figured on the branch of the Paupu tree, so she started to walk over there. As she got closer, she could tell some of the features and it was clear that this was Axis. She smiled, for she hadn't seen Axis in a long time - she was excited to see her again. She jumped onto the roof of the shack and ran along the bridge, pouncing on Axis from behind, her tail swishing as she purred, nuzzling into Axis' shoulder. "Axis!! It's been a long time!! She smiled again, kissing her lover's cheek. "How are you?"

Axis was soon snapped out of her memory world as she was greeted back to reality by a pair of familiar arms and an all too familiar voice. As Ren seemed to appear from no-where behind her Axis was almost knocked off the tree as the embrace from her came next. Catching her balance quickly Axis looked down and gave a small smile. It was indeed so long since Ren and herself had been together. Axis had strayed off after Ren had brought her here. But now for once she had her beautiful neko princess in her arms again. As Ren seemed to jump and kiss her Axis quickly wrapped her arms around Ren's waist and pulled her close as she kissed her forhead.

"Yes it has indeed dear Ren, Im glad to see your still as wonderful as ever"

Gently, Axis brushed her hand across Ren's soft cheek as she looked into her beautiful eyes that seemed to sparkle with radience in te light of the sun overhead. Repaying the favor Axis seemed to nuzzle Ren's neck knowing full well that this spot was a somewhat weakness to the young neko. Axis embrace seemed to grow alittle tighter as the scent of Ren was a marvelous delight that made her senses go ablaze with excitment and her non-existant heart fill with love.

"I was somewhat in dispair but I'm so much better with you here in my arms Ren my love."

"I'm glad to hear that you feel good, darling. It's been a long, long time since I've held you. Would you mind a moment or two longer?" She giggled slightly, holding Axis even closer to her. Her ears twitching happily as she did so. Her rifle lay drooped over her back with a strap around her shoulder, but this was under the cloak she was wearing - so it wasn't visible. She'd missed Axis so much that she'd forgotten how to use her keyblade in her despair and had taken up using only various guns for fighting - not as if she minded much, they were just as effective against the heartless and nobodies now. She kissed Axis on the cheek again.

Axis laughed abit to herself watching as Ren seemed to hold her alittle more closely. The feeling of being able to love someone so wonderful was a privilage that Axis held onto everyday of her "life" that is if you could call this life. Axis rain her fingers through Ren's long silky hair as she leaned in close.

"Of course, Im yours for as long as you need me Ren"

Somehow Ren seemed changed in a way. Nothing too significant from Axis could tell could, it looked like she was doing just fine without it. No doubt though it had been due to Axis sudden leave and no return. The power of the keyblade seemed to still exist with her but faintly. This time as Ren pulled back from the second kiss on the cheek Axis pulled her abit and caught her lips before she had time to escape. The feeling of her soft lips against her's was so pleasing, a feeling of inner warmth spread through Axis as her cheeks for in a long while seemed to flush with a very light blush. It wasn't too often that Axis let herself show weakness towards Ren but there were just times where she couldn't control it. Deep feeling of love and affection would take over and she couldn't do anything about it. As she pulled away, Axis looked away trying to hide her face as she was beginning to feel the warmness of her cheeks.

Ren was caught off guard by Axis' sudden movement, a blush creeping over her cheeks as well. She reached over and took Axis' hands in her own, smiling. "Well, that was unexpected, but it was a wonderful surprise, darling. I wish I had one to give to you, but I don't think that this is the place for my to come up with one." She giggled and nuzzled into Axis' shoulder, smiling.

"Of course..."

Axis laughed alittle again knowing well what Ren was talking about. Thought tried to push themselves into Axis head thanks to the comment but Axis shook her head and looked at Ren who was enjoying herself by nuzzling in her shoulder. Stretching her arms out, Axis pushed herself so she could sit up properly. Moving Ren with her so that she was sitting in her lap, not in a way that looked wrong either. The sun seemed to keep shining brighter making the island alittle less gloomy each time. It was making the day more likeable at that. As Axis' looked out at the waters again which were sparkling this time, she made sure that she had an arm around Ren still.

Ren closed her eyes, purring softly as she rested in Axis' lap, the feel of the keyblader's arms around her a reassuring fact that everything was fine and there was no need to panic. Her ears twitched again, her tail snaking around Axis' waist and holding onto her.

Axis was somewhat caught off guard as the feel of Ren's tail wrapping around her waist became noticeable. Blushing alittle more made Axis look away again trying even more to hide her face. The feelig were getting stronger and it just was starting to show way too much. Setting her head into Ren's back, Axis hold around her seemed to shake abit. She wasn't about to give her the satisfaction of Ren being able to ge to her no matter how bad she wished to see it. Taking a deep breathe and exhailing Axis tried to regain herself before Ren would notice.

Ren blushed as she heard Axis resteady her breathing. She knew that she was getting to her, but she also knew that it couldn't continue further. Following the Murphy's law, if they'd tried anything in public, even if it seemed they were alone, someone was bound to walk in on them. She rolled over, looking Axis in the eyes and whispering softly. "Axis, I love you."

Axis blushed even more but found a calming, soothing gentleness in her voice as the words came out. Hugging Ren tightly Axis hid her face in her shoulder. One way that Ren wouldn't be able to look down at what she usually wanted to see.

"I love you too, Ren"

When her face was somewhat normal she looked up at her with a weak smile and kissed her cheek before lifting Ren and setting her down on the tree. Axis quickly jumped off and landed on her feet, her back to Ren as she dug her left hand into her pocket and rubbed her right hand on the back of her neck. As she stood and closed her eyes, a breeze drifted along bringing a cool sensation that helped Axis somewhat clear and calm herself to the point where she was oce again to a "normal" state.

Ren sat up and glanced around, wondering if something was wrong with Axis. She couldn't see anything that would disrupt Axis' peaceful demeanor so she looked over the peaceful beach, half-wishing that some heartless were there so she could have target practice. It had been a while since she'd fought any heartless and she thought she might be a little rusty.

In the next passing moment the keyblade appeared in a flash of light as Axis suddenly looked over her shoulder. Throwing the keyblade in Ren direction it seemed to be heading straight for her but intsead just missed her by an inch and knocked a neo-shadow that was just about to pounce and attack at that moment. Axis turned and did a hurtle jump over the tree trunk, grabbing her key and jumping from the bridge as she glanced at Ren. She knew that Ren would soon follow no doubt. Landing on the soft sand below Axis head towards the middle of the beach as heartless of many different kinds began to appear with the neo-shadows. It seemed their peace was done for alittle while but no matter, Axis gave a smirk. This would give her some entertainment.

Wasting no time Axis lunged in knocking a few out of the way and creating a path for her to get through and attack of atleast four or more.

Ren pulled the rifle out from under her cloak, revealing that she was carrying a shotgun with a night-vision scope attached. She jumped down, shooting at the closest bunch of heartless and watching them all explode in little puffs of smoke. If they hadn't been pure-bred, they would have released hearts, but they weren't so they didn't. She smiled, glancing over at Axis before loading another shell into her shotgun and looking for another group to explode.

While Ren was going trigger happy with her new found fire arms for weapons, neo shadows and a few sergeant heartless appeared and began to try and encirle Axis, hopefully being able to trap her and bring her down in a dogpile of attack. As they grew closer and closer, Axis waited for the right moment. When each of them were inches away from jumping in for attack she stepped into actions quickly spinning as the keyblade knocked one and caught it, bashing it into the rest and then all of them just disappeared in the usual smoke, a new batch being put in their place. Axis threw the key again this time punching and pushing through heartless as the key knocked several down and out. She just manger to catch it and attack again taking out another small group.

Ren slid under the belly of a recently spawned large body, firing her shotgun into it's back and causing it to explode into a puff of smoke as well, but a heart flew out of this one. She watched it float away and sighed, the endless process was still going. Every time they freed enough hearts, they had to go destroy kingdom hearts all over again, but then all the hearts usually went back to being heartless. It was a never-ending cycle that provide Ren something to do during her free time.

As a few more groups of heartless were wiped away by Axis this time she could notice atleast one heart begin to float away. It was sad to see that every keyblader efforts to keep Kingdom Hearts safe was yet again being foiled. But hopefully enough that one heart would end up another heartless inside of joining the cause of unlocking the kingdom. In tht moment Axis had let her guard down wihout noticing and thanks to that was attacked from behind by an incoming Zip Slasher heartless. As it quickly moved along, it left a huge cut that had went through her jacket and into her back.

The smell of blood became strong as it slowly dripped down. Axis was forced down onto one knee which in an instant was taken advantage of. Neo Shadows jumped in at the chance, toppling her and attacking in an instant. Even with the pain in her back Axis soon pushed them off enough for her to spin again knocking them all in different directions and sending them flying into other heartless. All of them disappeared into smoke and a few more hearts drifted into the infinite sky of blue before disappearing into darkness. Falling to her knee again, Axis breathing became alittle heavy.

Ren noticed the zip slasher attack Axis and growled, charging forward with her shotgun as she loaded it, aiming carefully at her feet and jumping, pulling them back at the last moment and firing, loading a spray into the Zip Slasher's head, knocking it over.

Axis slowly rose to her feet runnig towards the damned Zip Slasher, taking any and all heartless that were blocking her way. As soon as she was in reach she threw her key with much force hoping to knock the last ounce of energy out of the creature. The keyblade ha done just that, slicing straight through it, the slasher disappeared into smoke. The key landed again a few feet away as Axis quickly rushed through to grab to it again. This time as she did one lone Neo Shadow came from behind.

"No... You don't.."

Axis quickly turned and knocked it back. As it stumbled backward she kicked it sending it landing into the sand as she step on it's head pushing down omit with much force. As it squirmed underneath her, trying to get free, she watched and then stabbed it. It too disappeared and she turned facing Ren as the blood began to drip and land onto the sand below Axis.

"Already fell for that one, not gonna let it happen again"

Even though her face grew a serious expression Axis tried to smile so that Ren would have no worries.

Ren dropped the rifle to her side, running over to Axis. Even though she was smiling, it still worried her to see Axis bleeding. She ripped a strip from the lower part of her shirt, exposing her belly button as she tied it tightly around the wound to stop the bleeding. She frowned at Axis, her eyes slightly tearing up. "Axis, you need to avoid getting hurt, or worse, killed! I need you.."

"Ren..."

As Axis looked down into Ren's eyes she could feel what she was feeling. The two could not stand to lose each other let alone let each other be in pain. It was just how they were, they couldn't see themselves without each other. Sighing Axis looked down and sighed before looking back into Ren's now tear filled eyes. Axis wipped them away, still smiling.

"Im still here arnt I? You have no worries Ren. No matter how much pain and hurt I'm in I will not let myself die. I promise you, I will not leave you, ever. Okay?"

Axis' voice was gentle and reassuring, her word were truth. She knew that she couldn't leave Ren and she wouldn't let it happen no matter what was put against her. This was a promise to not just the two of them but also to herself that she would not leave Ren for anything, not even the final act, death itself.

Ren just nuzzled Axis, closing her eyes to keep the tears in. She was glad she'd been able to get over there in time, so that Axis wasn't actually killed. She had no idea how she'd survive without being able to look forward to their next encounter. It was all she lived for anymore.

Ren's tears made Axis feel sort of angery at herself for having let her guard down in the first place and then letting this happen. Pulling Ren close and embracing her again Axis held her tight. She had to try and be less stupid especially around Ren. The last thing she ever wanted to see were any kind of tears that wernt tears of joy or happiness. Sighing again, she could feel a sharp pain and then it was gone.

"Come on, let's get outta here before they come back"

Pulling away and looking at her again, Axis' smile was still there as she pulled Ren by the hand and began to walk down the beach.

Ren felt Axis' hand grasp hers and she smiled, gladly letting Axis lead the way.

Axis was starting to feel alittle better as the fresh air of the island helped to clear her again. Hopefully enough they could find one good spot that wouldn't lead to another barrage of full on attack by the scum known as the heartless. As she continued down the beach, Ren still following at her side, they headed to the secret place hidden within the cave near the small waterfall. Heading down the tunnel Axis pulled Ren alittle closer till the reached the open area. Looking over the many pictures Axis smile grew as she grabbed a rock and headed to a clear place on the wall, she motioned for Ren to join her as she looked over at her.
